Where everyone belongs
Restore exists because everyone deserves somewhere they can walk in without explaining themselves. A place that stays open. A welcome that does not wear off.

What we keep coming back to
Everyone deserves to belong
Loneliness is not something that only happens to certain people. It finds its way into every postcode, every age group, every background. And it is harder to shift than most people think.
Restore creates spaces where anyone can walk through the door and be part of something. No referral, no criteria, no awkward first conversation where someone decides whether you qualify. Just a room with people in it and something worth doing.
That is where belonging starts. Not with a programme. With a door that is actually open.
Communities are stronger together
Connection does not maintain itself. The things that hold a neighbourhood together, knowing your neighbours, looking out for each other, having places to gather, need tending. When shops close and services withdraw, those threads fray.
Restore provides places where those threads can hold. A shop counter where someone asks how you are and means it. A workshop table where strangers become regulars. A lounge where the only agenda is being in the same room.
Small actions create lasting change
A conversation at the till that makes someone's morning. A Wednesday session that becomes the thing someone looks forward to all week. A volunteer who discovers they are good at something they had forgotten about.
These are not small things. They are the way change actually works. Not in grand gestures, but in the steady accumulation of moments where someone feels seen, useful and welcome. That is what restores people.
Second chances extend to everything
A donated coat finds a new home. A person who has had a difficult year finds their footing again.
Restore believes in the value of what already exists. The skill someone picked up years ago that still has life in it. The jacket that has another decade of wear. The relationship that forms across difference because two people ended up at the same table. None of it is waste. All of it matters.
What guides us every day
These four values guide how we work, how we welcome people, and how we think about what we are building. They are not aspirations. They are daily practice.
We care about the community, so around our shops we provide opportunities to make friends, learn and share skills, volunteer, support one another and share life.
We care about the environment, so we recycle, reuse, repair and repurpose, make, create and grow things.
We care about people, so we provide opportunities for those who need help most, building mutual relationships characterised by generosity, care and conversation.
We care about the whole person, so we create spaces where people can express curiosity, explore life and faith. We seek to be a community which listens to everyone.

Our four values are drawn from God for All, Cumbria's shared vision across churches and denominations. God for All brings together communities of faith across the county to follow Jesus, serve their neighbours, and care for creation. These values shape everything we do at Restore.
If you think you can help
Restore runs on the generosity of people who give their time, their skills and their donations. Whether you want to volunteer, donate goods, or simply find out more about what we do, we would love to hear from you.
